PROGRESS AT OUR BLOCK- BUILDING WITH HEBEL PANEL

CONTRUCTION VIDEOS OF OUR SOLAR PASSIVE
HOME BUILT WITH FAST ECO PANEL- AN AERATED CONCRETE PANEL METHOD OF ALTERNATIVE CONSTRUCTION.

This is the block before we started. Its only 270m2 and 9m wide with
a rear lane way entry (garage at the back.) Our block is in between two empty blocks.
Eventually someone will also build to the boundary there.
The blocks are narrow, so everyone who builds, tends to build to the zero lot boundary, which means the houses look' stuck together'. Its what they called compact Urban Living....it means that everyone uses up every square inch of their building block to build the house. Garden? Dont need a garden- we are positioned right opposite a huge parkland just over the road! Loads of trees around here so we wont need to look after the garden...........yay! some one else can do that!!

THE BLOCK BEFORE WE STARTED THE BUILD
checking out the big hole.........
this shows my kids looking at the hold dug for the pool. This had to go first, as the whole house
is built around the pool in the courtyard. The edge of the house will sit on 2 sides of the pool so that the pool can be seen from nearly all rooms...........funky eh??

THE HUGE HOLE FOR THE COURTYARD SWIMMING POOL
This is after the concrete was poured into the pool
and smoothed over. what is that big square thing? that is a planter box for a lovely tree.
we wanted this to be an "oasis" not a concrete jungle!! The pool is small but deep at 1.68m
Its designed more for 'cooling off' than laps!

CONCRETING OF THE POOL AND PLANTER BOX
Finally! The day came when we saw a concrete slab being poured. This is the only slab. The second story does not have a suspended slab. The second floor is made of framed up floor with Hebel Panel as the base. This makes it a lot quicker than the concrete suspended slab method to construct. Once the slab is down the framework is drawn up and the frames are ordered. These timber frames are what we affix the Hebel Panels to. On the ground floor, all the internal walls are unframed hebel panel screwed into the slab.

FINALLY A SLAB IN PLACE - THE FOOTPRINT OF OUR NEW HOUSE GOES IN!
NEXT...........THE TIMBER FRAMES AND THE HEBEL PANELS ARRIVE ON SITE........
